She's independent now. With all the money she has put aside over the past few years, Selena managed to not only find a small house to lease, but also in a completely different city to her parents. All the boxes with her belongings are placed inside, stacked one on top of the other and the furniture her parents kindly donated to her were in their rightful positions. She takes a deep breath and looks up at her new home, a sad smile on her face. It's a small, double storey house, painted a comforting off-white with welcoming green grass on the front lawn. A large weeping willow covers the small building with shady patches from the sun, making the house seem like something out of a movie. She runs her fingers through her hair and bends over to pick up the last box. She can feel her bones shake slightly but she pushes herself downwards until her fingers grasp the brown cardboard firmly and she hoists it up before resting it against her chest and marching bravely into the house. She feels proud of herself. Just as she reaches the front door, she hears a soft and inviting melody being played through the air and she stops in her tracks. Selena's eyes widens as she realises that it's a guitar being played and the tune is being composed so beautifully she feels the tears hanging off the end of her eyelashes. She blinks them away before setting the box down gently and wandering down the patio stairs and to the edge of her land where a picket gate fence separates her home from her neighbours. She looks around the area before her eyes rest on a man lying against a tree, a guitar in his arms and his eyes closed in concentration. He's beautiful. His face was slightly child like, with a composed expression across it, though some of it was hidden by his long raven hair which is style messily on his head. His skin was tan and it contrasted perfectly with the tight white shirt and even tighter black pants he had on. He looks familiar to Selena though she can't quite pick where he's from so she puts that thought aside. Her eyes trail to his fingers where they gently strum the chords to an unfamiliar song. They appear rough and calloused from her point of view so it was evident he played guitar often. Unconsciously she leans in closer, wanting to hear the song better but her footing is lost and she tumbles over the short picket fence and onto the other side. She hisses when she hits the ground and despite the soft grass patch she landed on, she could feel her bones screaming in agony as she lifts herself off the ground with her rattling arms. Pain pain pain. Tears sting her eyes as the pain becomes nearly unbearable but she grits her teeth and pushes herself off the ground. "Can't a guy get some peace?" Selena's eyes widen once again as she realises the playing has stopped and she looks up to see the man standing above her, his arms folded across his chest and a furious look on his face. He's more beautiful up close. She gapes minutely when she looks into his eyes, which were a deep hazel brown and flashing with anger, before she shakes her head and glares back at him. His expression changes swiftly from anger to surprise when he sees the woman in front of him with a menacing expression on her face. "Excuse me?" She says slowly, an unbelievable tone in her voice. "Who exactly are you?" He spits back at her, regaining his courage after a few moments. "A person, and there's a way to talk to a person, and that's not it. I just heard you playing, so I came to check it out. I'm sorry if I was interrupting you considering the fact I didn't make a sound!" She took a few deep breaths before looking back at the man and sneering. He looked back at her with a shocked look on his face before shaking his head and running his hand through his locks. He muttered that he was sorry before turning around and grabbing his guitar. Selena cleared her throat and looked expectantly at him as he looked back at her and blinked. "Thank you?" She nodded and gave him a warm smile before climbing back over the picket fence. "Much better." She was shaking but it was most certainly not from her pains.
